Playing on the Road

Hey Cougar Fans It’s Leah!  Some of you may remember me, I joined the team this past spring,  but now I’m officially on the roster here as a Freshman!  I’m so excited for the 2016 season to begin!

It’s been a little crazy lately with volleyball and starting classes but now were going into our third week of school already! Lucky for me I’m only taking 4 classes so my schedule is pretty lenient.  Last week was our first week of study tables, which means we all have to meet 3 hours in the learning lab, math lab, studio, or library by the end of the week.  This provides us with time to get our homework done or we can get the help we need with our classes.  Study tables is so great to have when you need to work on a paper or an assignment that requires you to actually sit down and focus for a good hour.

On the flip side, we started our game season the road.  This past week on Wednesday, we had our first match of the season against Carl Sandburg.  Although they took us 5 sets we came out with a win!  It was really great to be able to go out on the court and put all of our hard work to the test!  Thursday we had team pictures and practice.  With a shorter practice we knew we needed to have a focused, growth based mindset of wanting to improve our play, and that’s exactly what we did.  But, the week wasn’t over yet.  We hit the road again and played four matches in Kankakee on Friday and Saturday.  Overall we ended the weekend with 2 wins and 2 losses. We would have really liked to ended the weekend with no losses, it was still a great learning experience for the team.

We have so much to look forward to this season! Our next match is this Tuesday at home against IWU @ 7!  Hope to see you all there!
