Hello cougar fans!
We just wrapped up our fourth week together as a team, and it has flown by! Classes have started and we have started to get into a more regular schedule while trying to balance homework, practices, games, tournaments, and all the other crazy activities we do as the ICC volleyball team! This week our entire team took on the ice bucket challenge in support of ALS and the search for a cure. You can check out the video on instagram!
As the week went on, our team got antsy with excitement in anticipation of our first upcoming tournament. On friday, we loaded up the new cougar bus and headed off towards Lincoln Land Community College. But, of course, we didn’t make it far because no trip would be complete without stopping for a team meal at Avanti’s! Once we arrived at LLCC we put our game faces on and prepared to take on Laramie County. We fought hard to the end and won 22-24 in the fifth set after being down the first 2 sets! The first day of our tournament wrapped up late as we finished our game against mineral area at 11:00 pm and headed off to the hotel for some much needed sleep after a hard day’s work. We continued to battle the next day as we split our games and went 1-1. Overall, the first tournament was a success as everyone learned what it takes to compete at the collegiate level and that everyone’s role on the team is needed!
It is great to see the hard work and focus my teammates continuously put forth everyday as we grow in our skill both as individuals and together as a team! I look forward to seeing our fans at our upcoming events. We have our first home event tomorrow, Tuesday Sep. 1, in a scrimmage against Illinois Wesleyan at 7PM. If you are unable to attend tomorrow or throughout the season, you can follow our progress on our twitter page, @ICCVolleyball.
