Hey Cougar fans!
Another season of ICC Volleyball is among us and I couldn’t be more excited! Over the summer, most of the squad played sand volleyball and lifted weights to keep fit. Our season started on August 3rd. Since then, we have had two-a-day practices. These consist of combinations of court time, weights, yoga, mental activities, eye-training, team building and even Zumba! At the end of this week Karen Guthmiller came to advise the group and help coach! Karen started the program here at ICC and has been a mentor to Sue. She brings a lot of knowledge when she visits us, and we appreciate her coming all the way from Texas to help improve our volleyball IQ. When we had classroom time with Karen this week we found out each teammates personality colors. The color categories are gold, blue, orange and green. Gold’s are very organized, blue’s are very people oriented, orange’s are very competitive and green’s analyze everything (I ended up being blue!). It is always interesting to figure out which color everyone tests out to be, but it is also important to have a good mix of all the colors to make the team work better together. This past week we also got to do a Zumba class! That was a fun break from court work but it still had me sweating! It was a lot of fun to loosen up and shake it! Sue and Karen even got to show off their moves too! On Saturday we had our annual alumni match. We would like to thank everyone that came out to watch and especially thank all the alumni that came to play. It was a fun day and a great reminder of how amazing our program is here at ICC. We are looking forward to another week of two-a-days and anticipating the start of school. Our first game is August 22nd at IVCC. Our first home game is September 1st so mark your calendars or if you can’t make it, follow us on our Twitter page for updates (@ICCVolleyball)!
